Ohio Wedding Boutique Closed Following Reports That Ebola-Stricken Nurse May Have Been Symptomatic When Trying On Gowns

Amber Vinson, the second nurse to have contracted Ebola while providing care for Thomas Duncan, the Liberian patient who died in a Dallas hospital earlier this month, may have "been experiencing symptoms" of the disease while visiting family in Cleveland, Ohio last weekend. Even after she called to report a high temperature bordering on fever, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) cleared her to travel, via commercial plane, both to and from Cleveland. So before we go any further, let's please not victim shame here.

Vinson had traveled to Cleveland to visit family — and to undertake some planning for her wedding (via Gawker). During the weekend, she went to try on bridal gowns, as brides-to-be often do. Now, upon her return to Dallas, she immediately checked herself into hospital; initial reports were that only people who flew on her same return flight* needed to monitor for potential symptoms of their own. (A special helpline has been set up to this effect, and Frontier Airlines has placed the flight's crew on paid leave.) However, the CDC now says they have received "more information" suggesting she may have been symptomatic as early as her flight out, potentially placing all the people she came into contact with both on her way to and in Cleveland at risk — note that Ebola is only transmissable via bodily fluids, and only contagious when a person is experiencing symptoms.

In particular, this includes her trip to the Coming Attractions Bridal and Formal boutique in Tallmadge, Ohio last Saturday (at present, this is believed to be the only occasion when Vinson wasn't just around family and close friends) . Local news station WCPO9 spoke with the boutique's ownerThursday, who described Vinson and her friends as "like any eager group" visiting the store. "What are we supposed to do?" she told the station. "The lady was here. So either tell us everything's fine, have somebody come out here and investigate maybe. I feel like they don't know yet what to do." The boutique is currently closed as a precaution, and being cleaned by local health inspectors. Folks also present on Saturday afternoon are also being urged to check in with the CDC.

Vinson is currently being treated at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Her family have released a statement saying they have been "overwhelmed" with love and support, but also asking for privacy while her case is ongoing. Fellow nurse Nina Pham, who also caught Ebola while caring for Duncan, is now described as "quite stable," and will reportedly be released when she is well enough.

Oh, and another medical worker who may have come into contact with Thomas Duncan's "Ebola specimens" is currently self-quarantined WHILE ON A CRUISE SHIP.*The Daily Mail spoke with two male strippers also on the flight, returning from a romance novel convention in Canton, Ohio. They believe Vinson was sat "in front or behind" them (because that's how planes work), and have reportedly been told she was merely "three feet away." They are both self-quarantining themselves until early November (the recommended quarantine time is three weeks, which is considered the longest time it takes Ebola symptoms to manifest), and have bleached their inevitably G-string filled luggage.

Working toward a wedding? Lakeshore Bridal Expo to return to Muskegon Country Club

Few occasions are more of a cause for celebration than a wedding, but before the rehearsals and cake, church bells and saying "I do," the so-called "big day" takes plenty of planning.

Prospective brides in the Muskegon area will have a chance to take care of all their wedding needs when the 5th annual Lakeshore Bridal Expo is held at the Muskegon Country Club from 1-4 p.m. on Oct. 19.

"It's just a way to get the ball rolling for brides who are looking to plan their wedding day," said Lakeshore Bridal Expo Director Nik Tong. "It's a chance for them to get going early in the game ahead of weddings that may take place in the summer."

The free event will feature 32 wedding professionals that will be offering their products and assistance. A multitude of wedding-related services, including the expo sponsor Miphotobooth, photographers, catering, bakeries, event center representatives, jewelry, makeup and hairstylists will be on hand.

Several door prizes, including rounds of golf, free dinners and vendor gift certificates will be given away. This year's grand prize is a $500 travel certificate from Airport Tour and Travel. The first 25 brides to arrive will receive a free gift bag.

Tong said an average of 120 brides and 350 people total have attended the expo over its first four years. Most of the attendees are made up of family of the bride and bridesmaids, but every once in a while grooms will be heading up the wedding plans.

"There's a handful," he said. "There are some that are really involved, but a lot of times they just come along to keep the peace, so to speak."
