Everything You Need to Know Before Throwing an All-White Wedding

It's been popular lately to assign a color theme to a wedding, and ask your guests to dress in the color of your choice. "White weddings," where everybody (wedding party and guests) wears white, are also trendy, especially in tropical destinations. My clients who have had color-themed weddings all said they did it for the monochrome pictures, which they've seen featured everywhere and loved.

However, there are some realities to a "white wedding" that should not be overlooked by the bride and groom when they do their planning.

First and foremost, you need to make sure that all of the guests understand what the attire is. It's never safe to assume anything for a wedding. Especially when you're asking literally everyone to break with etiquette and wear the bride's color of the day to her wedding. While traditionally, putting "formal" or "semi-formal" on the invitation is sufficient guidance, you have to take it a step further when you're telling your guests what color you want them to wear.

If your invitation is non-traditional and includes a lot of information about your wedding, you should definitely include it there. You can phrase it one of the following ways:

The bride and groom request that all guests wear white attire to their wedding ceremony and reception.

It's a White Wedding — Please embrace the theme and wear something white!

Reality Check: No matter how well you explain your "white wedding" theme to your family and guests, not everybody is going to wear all white. In fact, the vast majority of your gentlemen guests will wear khaki pants and a white shirt. And most likely no man outside the wedding party will have white shoes, unless you encourage them to wear sneakers. "White only" becomes white-from-the-waist-up to most of the men. Those who are willing to wear white pants probably already own some, and will rock them with their white shoes.

If you're having an outside, sunset wedding, beware of see-through fabrics! You won't want dress yourgroomsmen in linen pants that become see through, for example, and make sure bridesmaids' dresses are lined. While a cool linen shift may be exactly the look you're going for, be certain the dress is ALL the guests will be seeing during the ceremony. Make sure to remind your entire wedding party to wear only white or nude undergarments so nothing shows under the lights during pictures.

Lastly, don't get upset if some of your guests forget the dress code. Don't be surprised if some guests are wearing white with a pattern (if they've got a clue, they'll make a point to step out of some of your formal group photos so the color theme isn't ruined). Don't be disappointed, or annoyed, to see men not wearing white pants and shoes. When a wedding isn't black tie, most men don't see the need to purchase a new outfit they'll literally never wear again for one day. Expect (and hope for) bright white shirts and you'll be pleasantly surprised if everybody remembers.

Georgina Wilson, Arthur Burnand are stunning in official wedding video

Endorser, model, and former Asia's Next Top Model host Georgina Wilson tied the knot with British businessman Arthur Burnand in Winchester, Hampshire, England last April, with their family and close friends standing as witnesses.

The two looked no less than royalties on their wedding day, with the Manila It Girl wearing a Monique Lhuillier wedding dress, and the occasion photographed by Hugo Burnand—who also documented the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.

Among the celebrities who flew to England to celebrate with the couple are Anne Curtis, Isabelle Daza, Rajo Laurel, Carla Humphries, Solenn Heusaff, Nico Bolzico, Laureen Uy, Robbie Pinera, Bea Soriano, and Liz Uy.

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach went back to Las Vegas for the first time since winning the title from the prestigious international beauty pageant to support fellow beauty queen and close friend Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan in the grand coronation night of Miss USA 2016.

Since the Miss Universe pageant last year, where Olivia emerged as the second-runner up, the beauty queens have been best friends.

Last April, the American beauty traveled all the way to the Philippines to show her full support to Pia in the grand coronation of Binibining Pilipinas 2016.

This week, the two had to say goodbye once again as the Filipina beauty queen flies back to New York to continue to fulfill her duties as Miss Universe.

In a touching Instagram post after the Miss USA 2016 pageant, Pia shared her unconditional love and support for Olivia with a throwback photo.

“Our very first photo together as candidates for Miss Universe. I'll never forget seeing this tall stunning girl walk across the hallway as some of us wait for our turn to be interviewed. I introduced myself and even asked for a photo, though I was terribly shy. When we finally chatted, it felt so good to talk to somebody who was just being herself.” the Miss Universe said.

She added: “During Miss Universe, yes, I had my friends, but I was quiet because I'm an overthinker (still am) and I was under a lot of pressure... But in that brief moment, Olivia made me feel like I could be Pia even just for a second, to relax my shoulders and breathe. And that's the way it has always been for me since she became my roommate.”

Pia also shared a photo of her and Olivia onstage during the Miss USA 2016 pageant.

“Goodbyes are never easy. Olivia, I will miss you tremendously, thank you for being my @missusa and for always being #confidentlybeautiful and confidently YOU,” she said.

During their brief reunion, Pia and Olivia shared some fun times together.

Prior to the Miss USA pageant, the beauty queens shared their excitement for the performance of the Backstreet Boys with an impromptu karaoke session at the T-Mobile Arena.

They were also undeniably happy and starstruck after meeting Jennifer Lopez in Las Vegas last Sunday.

MILEY CYRUS ENGAGED AND WEDDING PLANNING?

Are Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth wedding planning? Though Cyrus has been wearing her engagement ring again in recent months the two have never officially confirmed they're back on. But Hemsworth seems to be setting the record straight.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

Hemsworth, 26, recently opened up to GQ about all of the tabloid reports surrounding his relationship with Cyrus, 23. And while he didn’t say they're making wedding plans, he basically confirmed that they're engaged again.

“People will figure it out, they already have,” Hemsworth told GQ of his relationship with Cyrus. “They’re not dumb.” This seems to contradict Hemsworth telling TV Week Australia that he wasn’t engaged back in March.

Cyrus and Hemsworth first started dating after meeting while filming The Last Song in 2009. They got engaged in 2012 and split in 2013. “Of course it was hard, man. But at the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen. We were both super-young and it was a good decision at the time – we both needed that,” Hemsworth told GQ.

But Cyrus and Hemsworth stayed close friends. Rumors first emerged they got back together when Cyrus spent the holidays with Hemsworth and his family in Australia. Cyrus was later seen wearing her old engagement ring and they reportedly moved in together, sparking rumors they were engaged again.

Since then, rumors surfaced that Hemsworth and Cyrus were going to split. But the rumors proved to be false. Sources told Us earlier this month that Cyrus and Hemsworth were planning to get married in Australia and even started looking at venues!
